Prof.Dr Valerie Carayol (PHD of Bordeaux University, 1993) is Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Bordeaux University (France). She is the director of the Research group MICA (EA 4426, Médiation, Information, Communication, Arts). Dedicated to communication and art sciences, the laboratory has more than 60 academic full members, 100 doctoral students and 30 associate members.
Professor Carayol has been the President of EUPRERA until December 2013. The European Public Relations Education and Research Association is an autonomous organisation that aims at stimulating and promoting innovative knowledge and practices of public relations education and research in Europe.
She is the editor of the academic review Communication & Organisation, founded in 1992, and published by the University of Bordeaux Press (PUB), a cross-disciplinary initiative designed to disseminate academical knowledge in Organizationnal communication in the french speaking community. She is a reviewer for several academic reviews including International Journal of Strategic Communication, Management Communication Quaterly, Public Relations Inquiry, Communication, Revista Internacional de Relaciones Públicas, Sciences de la société, Questions de communication, Recherches en communication. Publications include six scholarly books and several articles, book chapters, reviews, and papers.
She was elected and serves as national evaluator for the CNU (French National University Concil) in Information and Communication Sciences. She has served as Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Communication Studies (Organizational Communication curriculum and Research curriculum) for 16 years. Dr. Carayol also served as a communication expert for the University of Bordeaux 3.
